To provide the landscape curbing with room to flex as the ambient temperature changes, control joints are installed every 2 to 3 feet. This allows the curb to crack in a controlled manner when ground movement or other forces stress the curb. Our curbing also has a special sealer applied to the surface of the concrete as it is installed. This sealer adds strength by slowing hydration, and protects your concrete edging from stains, reduces fading and makes the surface of your curb very easy to keep clean by simply hosing it off.

Element Curbing has a 12-month warranty against defects in materials and workmanship and against damage due to improper installation or workmanship.   Your curbing will be replaced at no charge by Element Curbing in such instances. This does not include damage done by pets, children and premature landscaping or color variations. As with all concrete creations, small imperfections can occur which are beyond the ability of anybody to control.

Concrete curbing like any other type of concrete can and will crack, but with the installation of control joints, cracking should occur at these sites, and be virtually undetectable. Element Curbing also encourages customers to invest in having a galvanized steel cable added to their curb as an additional preventive measure. If your curbing should crack in an area outside of the control joints, Element Curbing will replace it at no charge during the one-year warranty period. A warning however, repairs can be difficult to make in coloured concrete, as it is impossible to get a perfect colour match. A crack is much less noticeable than a patch or discoloration.

Upon completion of the project, customers will be given instruction on how to care for their
concrete edging. Landscape curbs require very little maintenance, but some precautions are important after installation. It is very important not to wet the new curbing excessively the first few days after installation, so be sure to have any automatic sprinklers temporarily
disabled. During the first month after installation, don't allow metal objects like steel rakes and garden spades to come in contact with the new concrete edging, as concrete takes approximately 28 days to reach full strength. Take care when mowing your grass and doing edging that contact is not made with metal blades. Don't drive vehicles over landscape curbing as this may crack the curbing in places away from the control joints. Premature irrigation (within 72 hours of installation), resulting in damage to the quality or appearance of the curb, voids the warranty.  Any modifications to the curb also voids the warranty, including drilling into the curb.

If curbing is damaged due to owner negligence, including damage done by pets, children, or premature landscaping, Element Curbing will return to make necessary repairs at the homeowner’s expense. A $275 minimum charge will be applied to this service.
