    • Q: What kind of maintenance will the curbs require?
A: The curbs are technically maintenance free. However, we recommend applying a UV  sealer yearly to maintain a protective finish. You can either apply this sealer yourself or  we will be more than happy to offer you this service on a scheduled yearly basis.
    • Q: What kind of cement mix is used for extruded curbing? How is this different from other cements?
A: A unique mix of cement and other products is used to extrude curbing.  This unique mix  will ensure that the cement will cure faster and will be stronger.
    • Q: How long are the concrete sections?
A: "They" are not pieces or sections. The breaks you see approximately every 3' are  control joints. The curb is installed as one continuous piece using our curbing machine on  each job site.
    • Q: How is extruded curb put in place?
A: Extruded curbing is put in place using a curbing machine and then finished by hand.
    • Q: Will this process damage my lawn or beds?
A: There will not be any damage to your landscape. Once you approve the design of your  landscaping curbs, we cut the design with a 9″ wide bed edger. This will give you the  opportunity to see the flow of the curb prior to the installation.
    • Q: How deep do you dig and how deep is the footing?
A: Our bed edger will dig about 2 ½ inches deep by 9 inches wide. This can be done  without disturbing your existing landscape beds. There is no footer as the curb is concrete and is its own footing.
    • Q: How will the frost and thawing process affect the curb?
A: The benefit of our concrete curbing is that it is a continuous piece of concrete.  Individual blocks or bricks will shift over time and in the winter. Our curb is reinforced with  a galvanized steel cable which adds strength to the curb. Additionally, we place control  joints approximately every 3 feet. These control joints will control the cracking of the curb  during shifting periods and winter months. Should the curb crack, it would in the control  joint and as such the damage would not be noticeable.
    • Q: Could the concrete curbing crack?
A: We experience very little cracking however concrete will crack. We take every  precaution to limit the cracking and try to control it with expansion joints. If a crack occurs  outside of the joint, we will be happy to repair your curbing.
    • Q: Is concrete curbing limited to a design layout, such as with other traditional edging products?
A: Concrete curbing is ideal for most terrain. Our small concrete extruding curb machine  can easily be maneuvered, thereby providing the design flexibility needed for your specific lawn type. It can handle curves, circles, and can extrude straight lines. You may choose  from a selection of patterns, colours, impressions and textures making your concrete  landscape borders customized to your unique specifications.
    • Q: Is the color painted or stained on the curb?
A: All of the colours are mixed into the concrete during the mixing process. Consequently,  you don’t need to worry about the colour disappearing over time. You may experience a  little fading, but this is normal in any outdoor colour application. We recommend applying  a UV sealer yearly to maintain a protective finish. You can either apply this sealer yourself  or we will be more than happy to offer you this service on a scheduled yearly basis.
    • Q: How effective are concrete curbs in keeping out grass?
A: Extruded concrete curbs have a proven track record at preventing grass from entering  your flowerbeds. You also won’t need to worry about grass or weeds growing in between  this edging product since it is all one continuous piece. Our molds are designed wide  enough to keep sod from growing through it and high enough on the back to retain your  bed covering, such as mulch. As long as your area is prepared properly and your grass  clippings do not go into your flowerbeds, you will not have creeping grass in the area any  longer.
    • Q: Is this concept affordable and what will impact the pricing?
A: Pro Curb Design provides an inexpensive option to help you enhance the appearance  of your yard and your property value by placing a picture-perfect border around your  landscaping. We are offering you the highest quality workmanship, professional ongoing  service and a broad range of options to ensure the uniqueness of your landscape.
